How to convert Word to PDF

  1. 1Choose your DOCX or DOC file, or drop it on the box above.
  2. 2We check the file and convert it with a full office engine.
  3. 3Download your PDF. Both files are deleted automatically.

What’s kept

  • Fonts, sizes and styles
  • Headings, lists and tables, including merged cells
  • Images and transparency
  • Headers, footers and page numbers
  • Page size and orientation, section by section
  • Headings as PDF bookmarks, and a tagged PDF for screen readers

Good to know

  • Fonts that aren’t embedded in your document are replaced with metric-compatible alternatives, so line breaks normally stay the same.
  • A table of contents is converted as saved in the file. If page numbers are missing, update the table in Word before converting.
  • Password-protected documents must be unlocked first.

What happens to your file

It is uploaded over an encrypted connection, converted by software on our servers, and both files are deleted automatically within 30 minutes, or straight away if you press Delete. Nobody looks at it, and it is never used to train AI. Read the privacy notice.

Questions about Word to PDF

Will my PDF look exactly like my Word document?

For most documents, yes: layout, fonts, tables, images and page numbers are kept. Documents that use fonts we don’t have, or very unusual Word features, can differ slightly. We never show you a PDF that fails our validity checks.

Can I convert an old .doc file?

Yes. DOC files from Word 97–2003 are supported, as are ODT and RTF.

Is there a page limit?

Free conversions can produce up to 300 pages from a file of up to 50 MB.

Can I convert a resume or CV?

Yes. A PDF keeps your resume’s layout the same on every device, which is why most job portals ask for one.
